2016 Recital!

"Dance Dreams"
 

Our wonderful recital: Saturday, June 11, 1:00 and 5:30pm shows
All dancers dance in both shows!

Dress rehearsal: Monday, June 6, doors open at 5:45 no earlier.


Both days will be held at the beautiful, state of the art
performing arts theater at Bordentown High School! 
318 Ward Ave. Bordentown, NJ 08505

We are known for our fun recitals! Our recitals are not average dance recitals.
They are set like a Broadway Show. Every year we have standing ovations 
and receive nothing but compliments! We know you will enjoy this year's performance
"Dance Dreams".

ALL STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN BOTH SHOWS! 
Let's make this the year that everyone keeps their commitment to dance!

*DANCERS MAY NOT LEAVE BACKSTAGE FOR ANY REASON UNTIL THE SHOW IS
OVER FOR SAFETY REASONS.  NO DANCERS ARE ALLOWED IN THE AUDIENCE
AT ANY TIME. A PARENT MUST PICK YOU UP BACKSTAGE AT THE END OF THE DAY.
 

Dress Rehearsal Monday, June 6:

Location: Bordentown High School, Ward Ave.

5:45  Enter, get settled, dancers go to stage (Doors open at 5:45 exactly)
6:00  Finale (Wear whatever costume is first for dress rehearsal)
6:15  Pre-school dances (Pre-schoolers can then leave or watch the show)
6:30-9:15  We run the rest of the show
9:30  We must be out of the building.  If you are picking your older child up
  come by 9:30pm sharp!

 MOMS AND DADS, STAY CALM AND ENJOY THE FUN!

 


Show Day June 11:

11:45am-12:10pm - Arrive at the theater. Doors will open at 11:45 EXACTLY.
Flowers or gifts for your dancer can be purchased at this time. Make-up should
be put on at home if you dance early in the show. Hair should be done. Pre-schoolers do not arrive this early and
 need one female parent backstage with them at all times. Sign in and go downstairs to your
dressing area, teachers and backstage managers will help you. 
NO ONE IS ALLOWED BACKSTAGE EXCEPT
THE DANCERS AND 1 FEMALE CHAPERONE OVER 18. IF YOU DID NOT SIGN UP TO BE A BACKSTAGE MOM,
YOU MUST DROP OFF, YOU CANNOT GO BACKSTAGE. NO MEN ALLOWED BACKSTAGE. PLEASE TELL DADS!


12:30am - Classes begin to line up for the show. Please pay attention to make sure your dancer does not miss
their dances.

1:00pm - The show begins! Yay!

2:10pm or so - Intermission. Flowers and gifts can be purchased at this time. Dancers stay BACK STAGE.

3:20pm or so - Show is over.  You can stay for the time in between the shows or go out to eat. If you
leave, your belongings can be left in the building, but keep important items with you. 
Dancers will be brought out by the steps and dismissed only when a parent is present. 
NO DANCER UNDER 13 LEAVES WITHOUT A PARENT.

4:45-4:50pm - Dancers and backstage parents arrive back at the theater. Hair and make-up should be fixed.
This show is video taped!
Pre-schoolers do not have to arrive this early. Pre-schoolers need a parent backstage
with them at all times.  Sign in and go to your dressing area, teachers and backstage managers will help you. 
NO ONE IS ALLOWED BACKSTAGE EXCEPT THE DANCERS AND 1 CHAPERONE OVER 18. IF
YOU DID NOT SIGN UP TO BE A BACKSTAGE MOM, YOU MUST DROP OFF, YOU CANNOT GO BACKSTAGE.
NO MEN ALLOWED BACKSTAGE!


5:15pm - Classes begin to line up for show. Flowers and gifts can be purchased at this time in the foyer.

5:30pm - The show begins! Yay!

6:10pm or so - Intermission. Flowers and gifts can be purchased at this time. Dancers stay BACK STAGE.

8:00pm or so - Show is over. Dancers will be brought out by the backstage entrance and dismissed
only when a parent is seen. NO ONE GOES BACKSTAGE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES EXCEPT BACKSTAGE
MOMSFOR SAFETY REASONS, AND NO DANCER UNDER 13 LEAVES WITHOUT A PARENT. 
Take everything with you when you leave.  LEAVE NO GARBAGE, BOTTLES, CLOTHES ETC ANYWHERE
IN THE BUILDING. TAKE MOST GARBAGE WITH YOU. LET'S BE THE NEATEST, MOST RESPECTFUL
SCHOOL THEY HAVE EVER ACCOMMODATED!

8:50PM
- We must be out of the building. Tell our dancers what a great job they did!

TICKETS:

Tickets will be on sale Saturday, June 4 and Sunday June 5, 2:00pm to 5:00pm
and the week before the show. You must know which show you need tickets
for and how many. 
$20 each (Toddlers on a lap are free) 

Tickets at the door are $25.  Please make sure your guests are aware of this,
and to be polite to the ticket sellers. Anyone behaving in a poor or aggressive
manner will beasked to leave by the police officer on duty. No refunds.

YOUR TUITION MUST BE PAID IN FULL TO PURCHASE TICKETS.
Backstage moms and dancers do not need to purchase tickets.



HAIR AND MAKE-UP:  


BOYS: 
Neatly styled hair with hair product. Glitter if they like!

ALL GIRLS:  A neat, very low ponytail parted on the left side (Over the left eye).
Use a plain, small hair tie that matches your hair.
 Bright make-up and glitter!


*Gilrs wear stage
Swarovski crystal earrings and a clip that
sparkle beautifully in the lights! Clip-ons and pierced are available.
$10
Swarovski crystal earrings / $5 clip (If you have them from last year, use them again)

*False lashes should be worn by everyone 12 years old and up. 12 and under is optional.
Youngest dancers should not wear them. 

If you choose to purchase your earrings and clips elsewhere, make sure they
are the same as what we are selling so everyone matches. All items are
available now in the waiting room. If you think you have these items at home,
bring them in to check if they are ok.
*Make-up should include: bright blush, blue eye shadow, hot pink or
red lipstick, mascara, glitter.

Earrings $10   
Clips $5   

 

SHOW RULES!!!

DANCERS:
Everything needs to be labeled, costumes, tights, shoes etc. Dancers need to be polite, neat and quiet.
They need to listen to the backstage moms and stage managers at ALL TIMES. They may NOT leave the
backstage dressing area. There is NO ROAMING allowed. THERE WILL BE NO GRAFFITI 
or you will be asked to leave immediately! (Whether it is the middle of the show or not.)
BRING AN INSULATED BAG FOR YOUR SNACKS AND DRINKS AND TAKE THE BOTTLES
AND CONTAINERS HOME AND RECYCLE!
  Please NO peanut butter due to allergies.


BACKSTAGE MOMS:
Keep count of all kids at all times! Please no drinks or snacks that stain. 
DO NOT LET THEM LEAVE THE BACKSTAGE ALONE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE!
Make sure everything is labeled,
all tights, shoes, costumes, bags etc. Keep track of who changes
when to make sure they are ready.


DROP OFF MOMS:
Send your dancer with snacks that DON'T STAIN and water, NO COLORED JUICE OR SODA.
Send a small snack for the whole class please. Send them with books or something quiet and non-messy
to do. FOR SAFETY REASONS, NO ONE IS ALLOWED BACKSTAGE. WHEN DROPPING
OFF YOUR DANCER, SIGN THEM IN AND GO FIND YOUR SEAT.

AUDIENCE:
NO CAMERAS OF ANY KIND ALLOWED IN THE THEATRE!  
The lights and flashes from a camera are
blinding when on stage.  The dancers get very
distracted and it hurts their eyes.Our video each year shows people taping from their
seats and it ruins the video! NO taping of ANY KIND is allowed.  Please watch and enjoy the show
without making the performers unable to see.  LOTS of applause and cheering is encouraged! 
No food or drinks in the theater except for water.  Every other dance school leaves the t
heater a huge mess, let's make sure we do not. 

 

Some things you may want to pack for show day:
aspirin -towels -water -blankets -pillow -band aids-bobby pins -safety pins
-ice packs -extra tights -change of clothes for after the shows -money
-snacks or lunch -hair spray or gel -glitter -scissors -first aid kit 

-anything else you may need.  Make a check list!

*Get a "Buddy" mom and exchange cell #'s.
Keep in touch with each other regarding all details :)



 

RECITAL DVD ORDERS

RECITAL DVDs WILL BE ON SALE. WE ALWAYS HAVE  A 2 CAMERA SHOOT!  PLEASE RETURN
THE ORDER SLIP ALONG WITH A CASH PAYMENT.
EARLY ORDERS ARE DUE BY May 1.  
Order in the studio.

DVDs $60 early orders  ($65 after May 1)

DVDS will be ready to be picked up here at the studio about 6 weeks after the show. 
You are responsible for picking up your DVD.

PROGRAM ADS-Due MAY 16!

Personal messages and congratulations in our keepsake program book are a
great way to reward your child for a job well done in the recital. You and your child
will have a wonderful memory forever. Also, consider expanding your business with
a business ad. Tuition scholarships are given to high sellers. Ask your local businesses to advertise
for your dancer! They would love the opportunity.
